Madame Yevonde
British
Born London, 1893
Died London, 1975
Pioneer suffragette, socialite and photographer, Madame Yevonde
was an ardent champion of colour employing the early 20th Century
Vivex process to produce her striking, iridescent photographs.
Her motto "be original or die" extended to quirky surreal still
life images and novel inter-war advertising shots but it is her
stunning portraits of Society beauties and film stars that still
excite collectors.
The work of Madame Yevonde is extensively represented in the permanent collections of The National Portrait Gallery and The Royal Photographic Society, UK.
Posthumous prints are available from £650+vat.
