Dennis Morris
British
Born Jamaica
Dennis Morris is acclaimed for his seminal and intimate images of The Sex Pistols and Bob Marley. Inspired by the British photojournalist tradition, his reportage went far beyond the superficial music portrait, revealing the highs and lows of life on the road with the reggae superstar and fledgling punk band.
A fanatical photographer from an early age, Morris also documented
London's black and Asian culture from the 1970s onward, in a uniquely
personal and vibrant account of those communities, which were shown
to huge critical acclaim in the UK.
His work has appeared in countless journals, including Rolling Stone,
People, and Time; and published in the monographs Destroy: A Photographic
Record of the Sex Pistols (Creation, 1998) and Bob Marley: A Rebel
Life (Plexus, 1999).
