Gene Fenn
American
Born New York City 1911
Died Paris 2001

A former assistant to Louise Dahl-Wolfe and Hoyningen-Heune, Gene Fenn became one of New York's foremost fashion photographers in the 1940s. His inventive approach, favoured by legendary editors Diana Vreeland, Alexei Brodovitch and Carmel Snow, regularly featured in Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and Vanity Fair.

In 1949 he gave up his lucrative career to paint in Paris. During this period he continued to photograph, documenting key artists including Chagall, Picasso, Man Ray, Braque, Miro and Leger as well as couturiers Yves Saint Laurent, Schiaparelli, Pierre Cardin, Givenchy, and Chanel.

Signed prints are available from £300+vat.
